Christianizing America ?

--From Book: America, Return to God

By Dr. James Kennedy

There are some who would accuse us of trying to Christianize America. Am I trying to Christianize America? You bet your boots I am! Jesus Christ's last commandment to the Church was: "Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature."(Mark l6:15). I am not only trying to Christianize America, I am trying to Christianize every country in the world through the Gospel. And, my friends, I think that will be the greatest blessing that those countries will have ever known, and history attests to that fact.

Some act as if that were some sort of un-American thing to do. May I simply remind that of their own history? The very first charter given to the very first settlers in this nation was The Virginia Charter of 1606 which laid out the purposes for the Jamestown landing in 1607. It stated that they came to Jamestown "for the propagating of the Christian religion to such as live in darkness and utter ignorance of the true worship of Almighty God." My friends, it is not the Indians in America who live in utter darkness and ignorance of the true worship of God. Today there are millions of others walking our streets who are just as benighted as anyone ever has been in the darkness parts of this world. It is our job to propagate the Christian religion to them.

Or considerate the Mayflower Compact-the birth certificate of America which says that the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth and went to choose a place of settlement where they could express to the fullest potential of all that God has built into them for brotherhood and love and peace and justice, and offer it all up to the glory of God. That, my friends, is our high and glorious calling! By the grace of God may we do it!

Humanistic, atheistic secularism has become in effect the religion of our land. Creation may not be taught in the schools created by this Declaration (of Independence). Hopefully, the time is not far off when someone will have the courage to take this situation to the courts and challenge it. Twice the Supreme Court has declared that humanism is a religion, yet it continues to be taught as the very fact, fabric, substance and substratum of all our education. When shall we stand up and say, "No more!"? - D. James Kennedy
